Who we are

AFIDI is a UK Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Foundation), registered 1 October 2020, charity number 1191563. We open doors to learning, confidence and opportunity for young people facing barriers due to disability, gender inequality or social disadvantage.

Work is delivered in Cameroon (urban library at Ahala–Camp Tunisien, Yaoundé, and rural library at Metet) and in the United Kingdom (accessible travel for young people with disabilities). Trustees receive no pay. Reporting to the Charity Commission is up to date.

This year, in numbers

• 3,500 visitors in 2025

• 1,100 books shipped

• 35 children hosted at free summer camps

• 8 children currently sponsored for school fees

What we do

Community libraries and reading spaces. Girls’ empowerment through mentoring and skills. Handi Défi, inclusive sport and activity for young people with disabilities in Cameroon. Free summer camps and science campaigns. Accessible leisure and educational travel in the UK. Tuition sponsorship for children in financial difficulty.

How money is used

Year ending 31 December 2025: income £24,032, expenditure £21,553. No trustee remuneration. No employees paid over £60,000. Historic income has stayed in a similar range since registration, with almost all funds going into programmes.

Theory of change

We collect books and resources in the UK, France and Switzerland. We run community libraries and activities at Ahala–Camp Tunisien in Yaoundé and at Metet. Children gain literacy, confidence and inclusion. Young people stay in school and lead.

What we are seeking

• Programme funding for libraries, science kits, camps, girls’ leadership, Handi Défi and tuition

• In-kind books and freight (home collection in London, Paris and Geneva)

• Corporate partners and UK trusts and foundations
