Our Vision and Mission

A child who reads will become an adult who thinks

At Afidi, our mission is to open doors to learning, confidence and opportunity for every young person—especially those who face barriers due to disability, gender inequality or social disadvantage.

For years, Afidi has worked to ensure access to education for all by collecting books and educational materials, establishing welcoming libraries, and offering learning activities and support for youth and families. Our work is grounded in the belief that education changes lives and that every child who reads becomes an adult who thinks.

What We Do

📚 Education Without Barriers

Founded in 2019, Education is at the heart of Afidi’s mission. We provide books, learning resources and inclusive activities designed to open minds and create opportunities for young people who are often left behind. Our programs are built to be accessible, supportive and empowering—because learning should never be limited by circumstance or disability. We encourage children to read by providing them with books and educational materials via its libraries set up by books collected from various donors. We have training programs focused on several disciplines: language courses (French, English and Chinese), introduction to ICT, sewing, math, philosophy and Yoga. We also have a tuition sponsorship program for certain children in financial difficulty with a priority on orphaned children. We also collect the clothes that we distribute to low-income families in the area.

♿ Empowering Young People with Disabilities

Helping Others

In Cameroon, Afidi encourages young people with disabilities to participate in physical activities that build confidence, resilience and a sense of achievement. Handi Défi is about breaking barriers, challenging perceptions, and showing that disability is not a limit to ambition, participation or enjoyment of life.

In the United Kingdom, Afidi also organises accessible travel experiences for young people with disabilities, enabling them to discover new places, socialise and enjoy travel just as anyone else would. We believe that travel is freedom—a powerful way to build independence, confidence and joy. By making travel accessible, we ensure that young people with disabilities are not excluded from experiences that shape memories, identity and self-belief.

We are proud to be expanding Handi Défi even further, with intellectual and cognitive challenges soon to be introduced. These activities will stimulate creativity, problem-solving and teamwork, ensuring that both physical and mental abilities are valued, supported and developed.
